La Traghetti Delle Isole S.p.a. was born in 1969 by a group of entrepreneurs, as pioneer society on maritime goods transportation. The first motorcoaster was called "Savarese", that connected Milazzo with the Isole Eolie; subsequently it took over the "Costa Gaia".
In 1973 a daily line Trapani - Isole Egadi islands end a weekly line Trapani - Ustica were inaugurated. They are specialized in the transport of dangerous goods.
In 1986 was inaugurated a daily line Trapani - Pantelleria.
In 1988 was purchased a third unity called "Lampedusa" that was introduced in the route Civitavecchia - Ustica - Trapani - Pantelleria - Lampedusa until 1991, when the unity was sold.
In 2004 was purchased the motoferry travellers "Zeus" that is used on route Trapani - Isole Egadi islands acquitting in addition to the service travelers to the transport of goods and fuels, moving the motoferry "Vulcano" on leg Palermo - Ustica where it operated until the year 2007.
In 2006 is purchased the motoferry "Cossyra" that links up Trapani with Pantelleria leg.
In July 2007 the Traghetti Delle Isole S.p.a. gets awarded the new tender by the Regione Sicilia for the years 2007-2012 for passengers, goods and dangerous goods transport for the lines:
Trapani - Egadi Islands (with the motoferry "Zeus")
Trapani -- Pantelleria (with the motoferry "Cossyra")
In 2015 the Ferryboat "AF Michela" is purchased and named as motoferry "Lampedusa", which will be working on the route Porto Empedocle - Isole Pelagie.
In December 2015 the Traghetti Delle Isole S.p.a. wins the contract notice called by Regione Siciliana for the travel connections from:
Trapani - Isola di Pantelleria
Porto Empedocle - Isole Pelagie
for the transport of passengers – goods – dangerous goods during the five year period 2016-2020.
